strawberries, bananas, kiwi...oh my!

Yummy yums! Banana, Strawberry and Kiwi!
Why are they SO good for you you ask?

Bananas have...
467mg of potassium per one banana which is heart healthy.
They contain fructooligosaccharide....say what!? Basically, it's  a prebiotic substance (one which encourages probiotics, the friendly bacteria in the digestive system) so it helps you get more calcium.
They contain tryptophan, serotonin and norepinephrine which helps get rid of depression and makes you feel relaxed...yep, I said it. They help relax you.
A medium sized banana has 109 calories estimated.
They prevent macular degeneration..that means better eye sight.
They alleviate ulcers and heartburn. (On a side note, if you ever get heartburn, try fresh raw garlic in a salad or freshly made garlic toast...trust me...it works and gets rid of heartburn better than any pill can.)

Strawberries have...
Lots and lots of vitamin C.
Are low in calories like 52 calories for a half a cup.
...high amounts of phenolic flavonoid phyto-chemicals called anthocyanins and ellagic acid which may have benefits against cancer, aging, inflammation and neurological diseases.
....vitamin A, vitamin E and health promoting flavonoid poly phenolic antioxidants such as lutein, zea-xanthin, and beta-carotene in small amounts that protect against free radicals.
....potassium, manganese, fluorine, copper, iron and iodine.

Kiwi's have...
....an excellent source of antioxidant vitamin-C; providing about 154% of the DRI (daily-recommended intake)...Consumption of foods rich in vitamin-C helps the body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge harmful free radicals.
Research studies have shown that certain substances in kiwi-fruit functions as blood thinner function similar to aspirin; thus, it helps prevent clot formation inside the blood vessels and protect from stroke and heart-attack risk.  Kiwi-fruit seeds are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids which is oh, so good for your pretty little heart.
One Kiwi is only 25 calories!
Fresh kiwi fruit is a very rich source of heart-healthy electrolyte "potassium." 100 g contains 312 mg or 7% of daily-recommended levels of this electrolyte.

Oy, this is all good news! Besides, they taste absolutely delicious! Go get some fruit for yourselves peeps. The Daily Nibble approves. *wink wink*
